Week Three Predictions

Each week I will be posting my predictions for every Big Ten game game as well as a few of the out of conference. As always these will be accompanied by related (not really) YouTube videos.

Record this season: 18-6 Big Ten, 22-6 Overall

Indiana v. South Carolina State

The Hoosiers best chance of winning so far is this weekend and I think that is what they will do.  This clip has nothing whatsoever to do with the game, I just like Sideways.Pick: Indiana

Illinois v. Arizona State

In a way, Salieri is representative of Ron Zook and Dennis Erickson can be portrayed by Mozart.  Salieri was competent and solid but not very naturally gifted.  Mozart was a prodigy, and changed music much the way Erickson changed football while coaching at Miami and elsewhere.  If you have seen the movie, you know who pulls the upset.
Pick: Illinois

Ohio State at Miami

Honestly, both schools are likely to lose in their real fight against the NCAA.  Still, I think Al Golden's Hurricanes shock the world in South Beach which will make their week just a little brighter.
Pick: Miami

 Penn State at Temple

Seriously, Temple hasn't looked bad but they don't stand a chance in this game at all.
Pick: Penn State

Purdue v. Southeast Missouri State

Who is Southeast Missouri State?  To put is simply, they are a crappy FCS team that even this banged up Purdue squad should beat easily.
Pick Purdue

Wisconsin v. Northern Illinois

The game will be played at Soldier Field in Chicago and actually might be worth a peek since NIU has looked pretty solid this year.  Still, the Badgers won't play a team capable of beating them for another could of weeks.
Pick: Wisconsin

Iowa v. Pittsburgh

Last week's loss took some of the momentum away from the Hawks but they have a great opportunity to get back on track in front of a rocking crowd at Kinnick Stadium.Pick: Iowa

Michigan v. Eastern Michigan

There might be some concern over a letdown after the Notre Dame game last week, but the Wolverines should be able to sleep walk through this one.
Pick: Michigan

Michigan State at Notre Dame

In a stunning upset I think the Irish finally come into this game with the type of execution and focus they have been lacking.  This is a very talented team and if they play up to their potential they will be extremely tough to beat.
Pick: Notre Dame

Minnesota v. Miami (OH)

Best of luck to Jerry Kill as he recovers from the incident last week.  In terms of the game, I think former Michigan State O-Coordinator Don Treadwell's boys pull the upset.
Pick: Miami (OH)

Nebraska v. Washington

I think this game resembles the contest in Seattle more than the one in San Diego last year.  However, don't be surprised if this one is close because Washington looks decent so far this season.
Pick: Nebraska

Northwestern at Army
Best part of watching the service academy games has to be the spirit spots.  Army-Navy in particular has a lot of good ones.  This game is probably not going to be very close but at least you now have a reason to keep watching.
Pick: Northwestern

Other Games
Oklahoma at Florida State

It doesn't get much bigger than this.  A titanic clash in Doak Campbell Stadium between the Sooners and the Seminoles.  This has all the makings of an instant classic.
Pick: Oklahoma

Utah at BYU

One of the great football rivalries.  BYU hosts the Utes and even now the game is nearly impossible to pick.  Both squads come in 1-1 with losses to traditional power houses but this one should be great.
Pick: Utah
